Physics Services Incorporated
(PSI) was founded in 1989 to provide the Radiation Oncology community with the needed
physics support required by the New York State Department of Health and national
quality assurance standards. Physics Services Incorporated was founded by James
P. Vaughan MSc., an ABR certified medical physicist with over twenty five years
experience in the field. Physics Services Incorporated has been performing
medical physics services for the Radiation Oncology community for over
20 years and provides these services to numerous Radiation Therapy clinics
throughout New York State and Pennsylvania.
The company was incorporated in 1994 and is a privately held New
York Corporation.
Our primary focus is in the
area of Radiation Therapy, where we provide consultations for room shielding,
equipment purchases, equipment installation, acceptance testing and most
important ongoing weekly quality assurance. This applies to all models of
linear accelerators, simulators and treatment planning computers. Our list of
manufacturers include Varian, Philips, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Cascade, Toshiba and
a lengthy list of treatment planning systems, including CMS Xio, Varian Eclipse
and VariSeed for seed implants.
We own and
operate a centralized Dosimetry facility which houses our bank of CMS Xio
treatment planning systems and remote access FOCAL simulation/review stations.
This allows physicians and clinics to access patient planning (3D and IMRT)
without the additional cost of personnel and equipment.
Our Rapid IMRT
Plan (RIP) allows any clinic with any accelerator to be up and
running with IMRT in less than one month. We can provide the solutions to allow your
patients to receive the state-of-the-art treatments at a fraction of the cost.
We provide these services and quality assurance
programs for both small and large radiation therapy departments and have the
full complement of measuring equipment available so that your institution does
not need to provide any major equipment for the routine quality assurance. We
are also able to provide different levels of service for the different needs of
each clinic; from full-time staffing and dosimetry services to part-time weekly,
monthly and annual quality assurance visits.
Our staff has over
60 years experience in medical physics and all possess professional degrees in the
field. All work is overseen by an American Board of Radiology certified
Physicists, as required by the New York State Department of Health. We are fully
licensed and insured and carry our own malpractice coverage. We are always available for all
types of medical physics needs, including brachytherapy, diagnostic x-ray
shielding design, x-ray equipment acceptance and inspection, nuclear medicine
and dental x-ray needs.
